Poem in Juliet's perspective from Romeo and Juliet

My heart hummed like a hummingbird when we first met
It burned to love like a lighted cigarette
How could you burn away
When our fire never even started to set
We could have been more than a lighted candle
Only if you hadn't slipped off the handle
Would we be a color other than gray
Nothing to pair with a lonely sandal
Such a feud that cut our love apart
The fence that kept you from my heart
If only we were allowed to stay
Together, then we never had to part

Journal from the perspective of Jean Louise Finch (Scout)
Dear journal,
Summer is over, and i wish Dill were here with me instead of going back to Meridan. I still cannot believe that Jem actually had the guts to enter Radley Place. I would never have done that. Seeing the shutters move made my heart skip a beat. Now, I have to attend school; my brother Jem told me that I will have a teacher called Miss Caroline Fisher and that she is very bad at teaching children. Wish me good luck, journal.
In Maycomb, the rural areas are extremely poor. It is such an old town and since it is so small, people know each other well and children play with one another. There is a range of classes; some are rich and others poor. Farmers were poor and they had to work hard, but my father is a lawyer and we aren't a rich family either. Sometimes, I feel like this place is a little bland and a little spice in my life would be great. As soon as I step out the door, it is so calm and it seems like people here don't have places to go, not that they could.
Now that I have school, I probably wont have time to think about this stuff anymore. As Jem said, life would be different at school. I'll be sure to prepare myself for anything. I hope that Miss Caroline Fisher doesn't slap me sith a ruler again.
Goodbye journal,
Scout

Colourful Voices
A poetic response to "The Sound of Hollyhocks" by Hugh Garner
Your voice penetrates my mind like a sorrow bird
I clench my hands together in searing pain
As you tell me the truth of love
Oh sandra, you have killed my soul
The two voices argue, driving me insane
One chooses obedience, one chooses not
The world spins around my dilemma
Oh my mother, the Bitch of Belson, I shall thank
I want to shut my life away
In the cupboard, without voices
The colourful voices that had led me to death
Oh William, I want it all gone, take me away
I leave the beautiful voices behind
